CTA Reverse Dues Check-off
The $60. that was being deducted for the CTA fight against the governor has ended effective this year. The annual increase to the CTA dues is $11.00.
CTA has, however, decided that an automatic deduction will be made from every dues paying member’s checks to support disaster relief, scholarships and more. However, CTA will give every unit member an opportunity to opt out of the $20 being deducted from checks beginning on September 1. You, as a member, will be required to fill out a form in hard copy or on line to opt out.
WEA will raise the annual dues $5.00 in order to remain eligible for the matching funds from CTA for crisis and/or things like arbitration, should we need those funds in the future. WEA is considering some options that will put all of this money back in the pockets of at least some members.
When all is calculated the dues breaks out as follows for Category 1:
CTA $599. NEA $158 WEA $150 $ 907.
CTA will provide an online tool to opt out of the $20. contribution or to redirect part or all of the contribution at www.cta.org/mycta on September 1, 2008. A hard copy of these forms is also available at the WEA office. |
